Maraetai Sailing Club Back Paddock Winter Series 2025

● The goal of this series is to provide fun racing during the winter to keep everyone engaged with the club and their class.

● The focus is on sharpening and practicing skills learnt during the summer. There will not be any formal prizes although we will keep an unofficial score for the series.

All classes are welcome. It doesn't matter if you have a bathtub with a sheet we will accommodate you provided it is safe!

Outside club sailors are more than welcome to attend. We prefer you enter online, but entries are open on the day.

Coaching will be allowed at all levels, but it is expected that if you or your sailor is at the front of the fleet the coaching will be done at the end of each race not during a race.

● We will provide a club coach each day to help sailors, especially those graduating from LTS.

Parents are expected to help run the racing on the water as it is a great opportunity to learn and develop skills for future regattas held at Maraetai.

Safety is paramount, so if we don't have enough parents there will be no racing. We will try to split the parent help into classes i.e one week will be opti squad the other being 2025 LTS, then Feva etc. ( It may not work out this way and end up a combo of all).

● It will be very much weather dependent with a 24hr go/no go to ensure participation. Communicatiion will be via the Back Paddock Winter Series Whatsapp group or via the Maraetai Sailing Clubs Facebook Page

● Time on the water will be 2 to 3 hours max. No racing will start after 15:00.

Briefing will be at 12:10 with the first warning signal the 12:55 with the race starting at 13:00.
